Filmes Umbra is a Puerto Rico based media production studio. Giving a platform to local talent, Filmes Umbra was created to showcase and share the vision of several local filmmakers. Their work includes commercials, award winning short films, music videos and more.
They came to me looking for a logo that was modern and youthful but professional.
The Umbra Phase
We opted for a light weight sans serif typeface for modernism. An umbra is the innermost and darkest part of the shadow during an eclipse. We ended up designing a logo that highlights the diamond ring effect during an eclipse leaving the shadow as negative space.
